ALABAMA PUBLIC SCHOOL STATE STANDARDS

Below are the English Language Arts and Math "Common Core" documents used in Alabama. Alabama has added additional standards to the "Common Core" and choose to call their standards the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards. The additional standards added by Alabama are noted with a map of the state of Alabama along side the standard in the documents below.

Example of a standard Alabama added: The original Common Core document doesn't include cursive handwriting. Alabama added this standard to third grade.

IF you have always wanted to read the Common Core for yourself or have always wanted to know what public schools in Alabama set for their standards or have heard others talking about the Common Core that may or may not have read the actual documents.......Here's your chance to read them and form your own opinion.

Be sure to look at the grade level  documents. These documents are very helpful in knowing what children are expected to know and be able to do grade by grade. It puts the focus on what students are learning not just that it was taught.
